How to book IELTS in Vietnam

  1. 01 Check which test you need: Academic for universities and scholarships, General Training for most work and migration routes, IELTS for UKVI or Life Skills for UK visas.
  2. 02 Choose a centre below and open its official booking link. British Council venues book through the British Council and IDP venues through IDP.
  3. 03 Pick a date and Speaking time.
  4. 04 Enter your details exactly as they appear on your CCCD or passport and pay.
  5. 05 Keep the original VAT invoice: IDP will not refund a cancellation without it.

On test day

Bring the original CCCD (citizen identity card) or passport you registered with; the Speaking examiner checks it again. Invalid or expired ID is refused, and without it you cannot sit the test.

Results

IELTS on computer: 1 to 5 days. On paper: 13 days. IDP Vietnam says most IELTS on computer results arrive within 2 days and at most 5. The British Council gives 1 to 5 days on computer. To see what your scores mean, use the band score calculator.

Retakes and One Skill Retake

IELTS One Skill Retake lets you resit one skill within 60 days of an eligible IELTS on computer test, if the university or visa route you are applying to accepts it. How One Skill Retake works.

Cancelling or moving your test

Both providers refund 75% if you cancel 15 or more days before the test. IDP lets you move your test once, free 15 or more days ahead or for VND 1,100,000 from 4 to 14 days ahead, to a date within 3 months; after a move you can no longer cancel. The British Council refunds nothing within 14 days of the test.
