Is there an IELTS Chrome extension?
Yes. The IELTS Studio extension for Chrome imports English articles and captioned YouTube videos into your IELTS Studio library, where you can practise vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing and speaking on them.
Is the extension free?
The extension is free to install and works with a free IELTS Studio account. The free plan includes a limited number of AI activities each day; Pro raises those limits.
Does it read my browsing?
No. It only runs when you click it, and only on the tab you clicked it in. It does not run in the background, and what you import stays in your own private library.
What permissions does it ask for?
Three: activeTab, to read the page you chose; scripting, to extract the article from that page; and storage, to hold an import briefly while it is handed to your account. It does not request permanent access to all websites.
Which YouTube videos can it import?
Videos with English captions. The captions are imported with their timestamps; a video without captions has no text to import.
Do I need an IELTS Studio account?
Yes. Imports are saved to your private library, so you sign in once. A free account is enough.
