Editorial policy

Useful answers need visible evidence.

IELTS Studio is built and maintained independently. Our educational pages translate public IELTS guidance into practical explanations and tools; they do not replace advice from an official test provider, university, employer, or immigration authority.

Primary sources first

Claims about IELTS scoring, test format, and public band descriptors are checked against IELTS.org and official materials from the IELTS partners. We link to those sources where they support a decision a learner may make.

Product claims come from the product

Descriptions of IELTS Studio features are based on the live product. Screenshots and examples are labelled as product demonstrations, and estimated bands are never presented as official test results.

No invented authority

IELTS Studio is an independent study product, not an IELTS test centre or examiner service. We do not imply endorsement, examiner accreditation, or guaranteed score improvements.

Corrections stay open

Test policies and public guidance can change. Important reference pages show a review date, and factual corrections can be sent to hello@ieltsstudio.com.

How a reference page is reviewed

  1. 1. Identify the decision. We start with the question a test taker is trying to answer, not a target word count.
  2. 2. Check the official rule. Scoring and format claims are compared with current first-party IELTS guidance.
  3. 3. Separate facts from estimates. Approximate raw-score boundaries and AI-generated band estimates are labelled clearly.
  4. 4. Test the path. Interactive tools and product links are checked in the live experience before publication.
