How to book IELTS in Myanmar

  1. 01 Check which test the organisation needs: Academic for universities, General Training for most work and migration routes, IELTS for UKVI or Life Skills for UK visas.
  2. 02 Choose a centre below and open its official British Council booking link.
  3. 03 Have a valid passport or NRC ready; candidates under 18 need written consent from a parent or guardian.
  4. 04 Pay online in USD at the time of booking with a Visa, Mastercard, JCB or other card that works for international payments. Bank transfer and card machines at the office have not been accepted since 20 November 2025.

On test day

Bring the same valid NRC (national identity card) or passport you booked with, and one colour copy of it. Invalid or expired ID is refused, and without it you cannot sit the test.

Results

IELTS on computer: 1 to 5 days. On paper: not offered since 28 June 2026. The British Council gives 1 to 5 days for IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI, and 7 days for Life Skills. Results are electronic: you download the eTRF from the Test Taker portal, and no paper Test Report Form is issued. To see what your scores mean, use the band score calculator.

Retakes and One Skill Retake

IELTS One Skill Retake lets you resit one skill within 60 days of an eligible IELTS on computer test, if the organisation you are applying to accepts it. Check that first: some bodies, such as Canada's IRCC for Express Entry and the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council, do not. How One Skill Retake works.

Cancelling or moving your test

The British Council refunds 75% of the fee (a 25% admin fee) if you cancel 15 or more days before the test, and nothing within 14 days. Cancel through the Test Taker portal. Illness or a personal emergency can be considered as an exceptional circumstance with evidence.
