Taking IELTS in the Philippines.

IELTS is run in the Philippines by the British Council and IDP, at their own offices and at partner review centres from Luzon to Mindanao. The standard Academic or General Training test costs PHP 14,470 at both, and IELTS for UKVI PHP 16,230. Since 21 June 2026 the British Council delivers every IELTS test on computer, and most IDP venues do too, so results come in a few days.

How to book IELTS in the Philippines

  1. 01 Check which test the organisation needs. Nurses applying to the UK need IELTS Academic; Canadian and Australian migration routes usually need General Training.
  2. 02 Choose a centre below and open its official booking link. British Council venues book through the British Council and IDP venues through IDP.
  3. 03 Book early. IDP closes registration three weeks before each test date and fills places first come, first served.
  4. 04 Register online, upload a scan of your accepted ID and pay. IDP takes GCash and other QR Ph apps, Metrobank bills payment or transfer, Dragonpay and card via PayPal, and cancels a booking that is not paid within 48 hours.
  5. 05 Look out for the payment confirmation, then a test confirmation a few days before the test with your final venue and time.

On test day

IDP accepts a passport valid for at least six months after the test date, the Philippine National ID card (not the electronic or paper version), a PRC ID or SSS ID with date of birth, a GSIS ID or a UMID. Bring the same ID you registered with: without it you cannot sit the test and you lose the fee.

Results

IELTS on computer: 1 to 2 days. On paper: not offered by the British Council. The British Council gives 1 to 2 days for IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI, and up to 9 days for Life Skills. Results are electronic: you download the eTRF from the Test Taker portal, and the British Council can send scores to CGFNS (TruMerit) for free. Retakes and One Skill Retake

IELTS One Skill Retake lets you resit one skill within 60 days. IDP lists it at PHP 9,120, or PHP 10,250 for IELTS for UKVI. The UK Nursing and Midwifery Council does not accept it: nurses must sit all four skills again, though the NMC lets you combine two full sittings taken within 12 months. How One Skill Retake works.

Cancelling or moving your test

At IDP you can move your test once, for PHP 1,000, if you ask more than 14 days before it and pick a date within three months. Cancelling refunds 75% more than 14 days ahead, 50% from 14 to 2 days ahead, 25% within two days and nothing on or after the test day. The British Council applies its own terms, so read them on its booking page.

The NMC accepts IELTS Academic with 7.0 in Listening, Reading and Speaking and 6.5 in Writing.
